No.7 Fish Bistrot - If you love fish and seafood, do not hesitate - head for No.7. The food is outstanding, the service fabulous and the atmosphere wonderful (quite European!). Great wine bar upstairs with a view onto the harbour. It's not the least expensive place in town, but worth every penny. Ask for Paul. 01803 295055. www.no7-fish.com
The Orange Tree - This restaurant will ensure you have a memorable experience (we should know, we had our anniversary there!). A more traditional and luxurious environment with outstanding cuisine and great wines. 01803 213936. www.orangetreerestaurant.co.uk
Richies (South Indian) - A small and intimate restaurant in the centre of town run by a delightful couple Johti and Christopher who take pride in their food, which is excellent; fragrant and light dishes that are truly full of flavour. A must are the Dosas which are like a crispy Indian pancake, filled and covered with a delicious sauce - just great! Tel 01803 298095.
Maha Bharat (Indian) - Dont be put off by the exterior of the restaurant front (rather 1970's!) as this is probably one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. It's easy to reach just up from the Harbour on Torwood Street. The Bengali/Indian food is freshly prepared, not too heavy and delightfully spiced. Try the excellent Indian Sauvignon blanc. 01803 215541 or 215580. www.maha-bharat-torquay.co.uk
